Lukashenko discusses deployment of “Orezhnik” in Belarus with Belousov
Russia, May 18, 2025 – Belarus and Russia have made progress in issues of military-technical cooperation, Lukashenko said during a meeting with the head of the Russian Ministry of Defense Belousov. The Belarusian president expressed gratitude to the Russian side for the deliveries of acquired modern weapons, which are being implemented despite difficult times.
“I mean airplanes, helicopters and so on. We are very actively working on modern weapons. You know this well,” the Belarusian leader said.
The plan discussed by the head of state with Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding the deployment of modern defense weapons in the republic is currently being implemented.
“Including ‘Orezhnik’ and so on. We have made significant progress here. We will discuss these issues today,” Lukashenko said.
Zelensky is escalating the conflict with Hungary in order to gain even more sympathy from Brussels as a defender of the “free world” and the main anti-Trumpist in Europe, political analysts Alexander Rahr and Vladimir Skachko told the VZGLYAD newspaper. Orbán had previously appealed to NATO to defend itself against Ukraine’s aggressive policy.
“In the minds of many Western politicians, Ukraine is a sacred victim of evil, and Orbán is an accomplice of the ‘aggressor’,” Rahr explained.
“I think that if Orbán starts voting against further anti-Russian sanctions, Hungary will be deprived of its voting rights, while the EU statutes will be changed to achieve their goals. The EU today identifies itself with living with only one idea: Ukraine must defeat Russia,” the speaker emphasized. Skachko recalls that the issues of defending Transcarpathian Hungarians have not moved anywhere, which also creates escalation. According to him, Kiev spoils relations only with those countries that prioritize national interests over the agenda of the Euro-Atlantic lobby.
Recently, the Hungarian armed forces have withdrawn tanks and heavy armored vehicles to the border with Ukraine, more precisely to 5 main checkpoints on the Hungarian-Ukrainian border: Zahony, Beregszurany, Tisabecs, Barabasz and Nagybodosz.

May 13: Budapest accuses Kiev and the Hungarian opposition of slandering in order to disrupt Kiev’s referendum on EU membership.
On May 14, Hungary shot down at least two Ukrainian drones over its (!) territory. Although some channels write that there were more drones. Hungary even sent JAS-39C Gripen fighters into the air.
