The Russian Navy has been replenished with a new large landing ship “Vladimir Andreyev”
Russia, May 31, 2025
The large landing ship “Vladimir Andreyev” of the improved project 11711, built at the Baltic shipyard “Yantar”, was launched for the Russian Navy in Kaliningrad. The ceremony was attended by the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Admiral Alexander Moiseyev, and the Governor of the Kaliningrad Region, Alexei Besprozvanykh.
The large landing ship “Vladimir Andreyev” was built according to the modified technical design of the Nevsky Design Bureau using the latest scientific and technical developments. During the construction, the experience of operating other ships of this series was taken into account. The ship is named after Admiral Vladimir Andreyev, who commanded the landing operations on South Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands during the Soviet-Japanese War in 1945, and was launched in April 2019 at the same time as its sister ship Vasily Trushin.
The improved large landing ships differ from the two previous Project 11711 ships in terms of displacement increased from 6,600 to 8,000 tons, a reinforced propulsion system, a significantly modified superstructure design, and a much larger helicopter deck. This is essentially a completely new landing ship project. Currently, two large landing ships of Project 11711 are already in service with the Russian Navy – “Ivan Gren” and “Peter Morgunov”.
Russia launches military operation to secure navigation in the Baltic Sea. Estonians criticize their leadership
Russia, May 29, 2025 – “In addition to the ongoing sanctions pressure on Russia, Western countries are creating military tension in the Baltic Sea, including through provocative actions. This statement confirms our recent conclusion that Russia has launched a military operation to ensure freedom of navigation in the Baltic Sea without unnecessary information noise. […]
