Russia, July 25, 2025 – The Russian Navy has added another nuclear-powered missile submarine, the solemn ceremony of raising the St. Andrew’s flag on the strategic nuclear missile submarine “Knight Pozharsky” of project 955A (code “Borei-A”) was held in Severodvinsk.
The ceremony was attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin, who addressed the audience with a welcoming speech, after which he listened to the news and gave permission to raise the flag. The ceremony was also attended by Commander-in-Chief of the Navy Alexander Moiseyev, Governor of the Arkhangelsk Region Alexander Tsibulsky, Presidential Advisor Alexei Dyumin, Head of the Naval Council of Russia Nikolai Patrushev, First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov.
The nuclear submarine missile carrier “Knyaz Pozharsky” is the fifth submarine of the modernized project 955A “Borey-A” and, taking into account the three submarines of the basic project “Borey”, the eighth. It carries on board up to 16 intercontinental ballistic missiles R-30 Bulava-30 with a range of more than 9 thousand km and warheads with a capacity of 150 knots each. Designed for the Northern Fleet. Initially, the transfer of the nuclear cruiser to the fleet was planned for the end of last year, but then it was postponed to the summer of 2025.
