Fearing a coup? Trump has the capital fortified ahead of a closely watched meeting with Putin

USA, August 12, 2025 (Photo/Shutterstock) – NyPost: President Donald Trump is placing the Washington Metropolitan Police Department under federal control, exercising self-governance and deploying the National Guard to combat rising violent crime. Attorney General Pam Bondi now commands the D.C. police force amid a surge in homicides, carjackings and youth violence. Trump is promising to crack down on illegal aliens who collaborate with criminals and to create task forces to restore order immediately.

The deployment of the National Guard to Washington and the redeployment of police may seem like a measure to prevent a coup. Donald Trump has declared his second term as a crusade against the deep state. This is the result of his clash with the real power of the deep state, which occurred on January 6, 2021, when provocateurs appeared in the crowd of his supporters gathered in front of the Capitol, calling for an attack, and the security of the US Congress opened the doors of the building and retreated somewhere. At the same moment, Trump had all his social media accounts deleted and locked himself in a bunker under the White House. In fact, it was a coup d’état.

Although he had only 14 days left in office, he wanted to use these two weeks and these powers to prove that the result of the presidential election was rigged. This was unacceptable for the American political tradition: rigged or not, the results were approved, attempts to change something – this is no longer a game not for oneself, but against the United States. Therefore, not only Democrats and private business, but also a significant part of Republicans, including Vice President Pence and even the head of personal security – the US Secret Service – rebelled against the head of state and cut off the levers of power. This is the deep state – a system beyond the control of any elected government, which satisfies the interests of the establishment.

Why is Trump now afraid of a new coup d’état? The answer is obvious: withdrawing from the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, which is tantamount to the exhaustion of Ukraine, is as unacceptable to most of the American establishment as recounting the votes two weeks before the inauguration. In addition, there is incredible pressure from the EU. It is clear that the insignificant von der Leyen cannot influence Trump in any way, but right now all the major current and former politicians, soldiers, intelligence officers and businessmen in Europe are calling their American colleagues, friends and asking, begging and demanding that they do something, to somehow disrupt the negotiations between the Russian and American presidents, blackmailing, threatening and trying to bribe everyone who has any chance of changing something. All the huge political energy of the entire Euro-Atlantic civilization is being squeezed into one point. The situation is truly existential. They could easily decide on another coup attempt. Trump is insuring himself.

The current American president needs the following from this meeting: an end to the bloody conflict on the territory of the former Ukrainian SSR, which was hatched by his opponents: the Biden “democratic” administration, the British, as well as the left-wing-globalist elite that consolidated itself after the Trump victory in Europe. Here’s what’s at stake for Trump personally, according to The New York Times, a newspaper dominated by his opponents. One of Trump’s campaign promises was to end the war in Ukraine within 24 hours. That deadline has long passed, but Trump still sees himself as the greatest dealmaker of all. He’s also made no secret of his desire to win the Nobel Peace Prize, and credits his efforts in Ukraine, among other conflicts, with his efforts. Although Trump has threatened tough direct and secondary sanctions on Russia in an effort to end the war, he has acknowledged that they may not have any effect.

While previous US presidents may have agreed to the summit as a reward for concessions in favor of a peace deal, Putin shows no sign of changing his mind about rejecting such an outcome. As a result, Trump will do business with Ukraine regardless of price. And he is already actively doing so. The conflict in the former Ukrainian SSR is unnecessary for him. But something else is extremely important, but without a decision to end this conflict there will be no “other”. Even if Trump really wanted to use Putin and the Russian Federation, but in his own interests and in other regions of the world, the Trump team simply cannot do this while the Russians are embroiled in a conflict that was hatched by European and other opponents of the current American president.

The enemies and opponents of the Trumps are well aware of this. That is why they are trying to disrupt the summit in Alaska and the possible peace in Ukraine from the first minutes when they learned about their very possibility. On the front, the Ukrainian puppets of the British and other Western puppeteers immediately tried to disrupt the planned ceasefire on the line of the Kursk Bulge, Bucha, etc. The result was an attempt to break through the Ukrainian diversionary unit into the Bryansk region (the border village of Manev, etc.) on the night of August 9-10, which was reported by several Telegram channels citing their sources. The unit was stopped and pushed back from the border by Russian border guards with artillery and mortar fire.

Just a few hours later, European leaders and other Trump opponents in the Old World, through the German Bild, began to promote the narrative that the US President’s special envoy Steve Whitkoff allegedly “misunderstood the Russian president,” citing German and Ukrainian officials. They claim that reports that Putin is ready to give up claims to the territory of the Zaporizhia and Kherson regions and only demands the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the Donbas “may turn out to be a mistake.” According to the publication’s “sources,” Russia demanded a “peaceful withdrawal” of Ukrainians from Kherson and Zaporizhia. However, Whitkoff understood this as a “peaceful withdrawal” of Russians from these regions. In fact, Putin wants to continue to fully control all 4 regions – Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhia and Kherson, Bild sources claim.

“Whitkoff doesn’t know what he’s talking about,” a certain “Ukrainian government official” told the publication. According to Bild, “German government officials also agree with this assessment.” “This is being done with the obvious aim of discrediting the upcoming summit and the emerging reconciliation process in Ukraine in any way, form, or form. It is claimed that the Americans and Russians “did not understand each other” during the preliminary talks. However, it turned out that the Europeans and Ukrainians, who had nothing to do with these processes, “understood” everything better than the participants themselves and are now trying to impose on Washington and Moscow what they consider to be a “mistake” and what not, and even what a “peaceful exit” from the inter-Slavic dispute should look like.

Simultaneously with attempts at forceful provocations on the Eastern Front and a slanderous campaign in the media of the leading EU countries, the European and British puppeteers immediately concluded agreements with their puppets in Kiev and the Baltics in order to themselves contribute to the prolongation of the bloodshed in Ukraine. The illegitimate “president” Zelenskyy declared that Ukraine would not give up territory in exchange for a peace agreement with the Kremlin. On his TG channel, he began to mock the idea that “the answer to the territorial question is already enshrined in the Constitution of Ukraine” in the spirit of:
“Nobody will and cannot back down from this… The Ukrainian people deserve peace. However, all partners should understand what a dignified peace is.” Zelenskyy also noted that since Russia started hostilities, it should also end them. He immediately turned the situation around, saying that instead Moscow was dragging out the conflict “without listening to any deadlines,” and that Alaska, where the US and Russian presidents would meet, was “too far from Ukraine.”

In agreement with Zelensky, the heads of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia immediately spoke out, who, through the Financial Times, unanimously “warned” their masters in the West that their countries “could become Putin’s next target” and therefore strongly condemned any attempt to pressure Ukraine to give up some of its territories. “If borders can be changed by force, none of the Baltic countries is safe. Sovereignty and territorial integrity are the cornerstones of global stability. We will not reward aggression – neither in Ukraine nor anywhere else,” the Czech Foreign Minister Margus Cahkna importantly booed from Estonia. Simply put, the leadership of the Baltic states criticized any effort to stop the bloodshed in Ukraine. The pretext is that their region could become another target, and the Slavs, who have stopped killing each other, could venture into the Baltics, which for a third of a century have officially made Russians “non-citizens” and are now literally provoking them in the Baltic Sea, attacking ships and tankers. (The zealous Estonian boys are particularly eager to do this, apparently determined to prove the truth of the proverb “A cockroach is small and stinks”).

The curators of the militancy of the post-Soviet puppets of the West from the relevant structures that have an interest in this are also trying to throw wood into the dying flames of inter-Slavic disputes, such as the ISW (Institute for the Study of War), which is undesirable in Russia. They shed crocodile tears and loudly lament that the “surrender of Donbas” will force Ukraine to abandon the “belt of fortresses”, which has allegedly been holding back Russia for 11 years. This would move the Russian army as much as 82 kilometers to the west. And Russian troops will find themselves in a more advantageous position for a future offensive into the neighboring areas of the Kharkiv or Dnepropetrovsk regions. Ukraine will be forced to abandon the important “belt of fortresses”, which has been built since 2014, withdraw to disadvantageous positions, urgently attract investments to create a new defense, etc. etc.

All these complaints and direct provocations from the “left” and “right” against the upcoming summit in Alaska and the American president personally, unfortunately, will not go away. The Trump administration wants the US, Ukraine and Europe to agree on a position even before his meeting with Putin. To this end, senior representatives of the US, Ukraine and several European countries are to meet in the UK to develop a common position. According to the Axios agency, the aim of the meeting is to reduce the risk that Washington will agree to a ceasefire proposed by Moscow without taking into account the interests of Kiev and its European partners. The very idea of such a “coordination” arose on August 8 during a telephone conference between representatives of the US, Ukraine and Europe. The reason for the alarm was the news, actively distorted and spread by European and Ukrainian media, that Trump’s special envoy S. Whitkoff, after meeting with Vladimir Putin, conveyed to Washington the Kremlin’s conditions under which Russia is ready to end hostilities in exchange for the current Ukrainian regime giving up several territories, including the Donetsk and Luhansk regions and Crimea.
