Kim was satisfied. North Korean specialists received Austrian sniper rifles

The North Korean army received SSG 08 sniper rifles from the Austrian company Steyr-Mannlicher AG. This was announced on the page of the Korean People’s Army bot on Elon Musk’s social network X.


 

 

According to the information published on the page, a test firing of Austrian SSG 08 sniper rifles was carried out at one of the training grounds in the DPRK. The tests were attended by the head of the republic Kim Jong-un, who personally fired several shots from the new weapon. Judging by the photo, the DPRK leader was very pleased with the new weapon. The report on the shooting was published on April 5 of this year, but it is not known when it actually took place.

 

 

The new sniper rifles will be in service with the special operations forces of the Korean People’s Army. How many rifles the DPRK received in total is not specified, it is assumed that in not very large quantities and through third countries. Austria does not directly supply its weapons to North Korea. The developers position the SSG 08 rifle as a high-precision rifle capable of hitting a target at a distance of up to 1500 meters. Reloading is manual, the magazine holds 10 rounds. By the way, Steyr-Mannlicher SSG 08 sniper rifles are also available in Russia, they are in service not only with the FSO, but also with the airborne forces, marines and special operations forces. They have been widely used in combat since the very beginning of special operations.
