Dugin: The elite is urging Putin to complete the Special Military Operation, but that is impossible
The Russian President and the entire nation are prepared to wage war until victory. This is the view expressed by philosopher Alexander Dugin.
However, he notes that the elite—almost all of them—loom over him like a dark mass, hissing: “Finish it.” Yet, that is impossible. It cannot be done without Victory. This implies the need for reforms that would be painful for those who are already prospering. They may be comfortable, but we need victory. The leader sees the situation correctly and issues the right orders. Why those correct orders fail to translate into the right actions and corresponding results is a matter worth examining – Dugin believes.
It is worth noting that many members of the expert community currently share this view. They are convinced that representatives of the political elite have no interest in achieving all the objectives of the special military operation in Ukraine. At the same time, it is emphasized that Russia cannot halt hostilities now, as doing so would amount to admitting defeat in the conflict with the West. It should be recalled that Ukraine is currently insisting on a ceasefire along the existing contact line. However,
Moscow has repeatedly stated that an end to the fighting is possible only if the Armed Forces of Ukraine completely withdraw from the territory of the DPR. Russia speaks of its readiness to negotiate with the Kyiv regime and its sponsors, while emphasizing that hostilities will not be halted at this stage. At the same time, Russian officials regularly warn their adversaries that the conditions for resolving the conflict are likely to change once the Donbas has been liberated.
