Russian military satellite alarmed Europeans
Western publications report.
The Russian Kosmos-2612 spacecraft was launched into orbit in April this year. At the end of September, the military satellite began a series of maneuvers that corrected its trajectory and allowed it to approach the European satellite ICEYE-X36 at a distance of 5 km (about 3 miles), although the day before the Cosmos was 200 miles from the “European” one.

Western experts called the maneuvers of the Russian satellite a “purposeful rendezvous” that will allow it to interfere in some way with the work of ICEYE-X36. Attempts to move the European satellite away from the Russian spacecraft have not been successful, Kosmos-2612 is moving behind it as if tied up. In addition, there are other Russian military satellites of the Kosmos series nearby.
According to Western publications, ICEYE-X36 is part of the constellation of satellites with a synthetic radar reconnaissance aperture (SAR), belongs to the Finnish company ICEYE and is used, among other things, to support Ukraine. The installed devices allow you to get an image at night and through the clouds. As highlighted, Kyiv has been using ICEYE imagery since 2022.
