Historian Starikov: “If the blind lead the blind, they will fall into a pit, Macron should not link his future with Zelensky”
Russia, March 7, 2025 – “What are we doing to France? The very fact that we exist. We are developing, we are not subject to pressure, we are not going to give up the wealth that God has given us for free. We are not subject to European pressure. We are not ready to behave the way they behaved towards the subjugated nations or towards the nations they colonized.” Writes Russian historian Nikolai Starikov.
“As soon as Russia began to gain its state sovereignty, the standard of living in the EU and the USA, in the West as a whole, began to decline. They are communication vessels – the West has to extract something, pump something out, carry out an unequal exchange, and at the expense of this, in many ways, it exists today. That is why Europeans do not like us and do not agree with this way of asking the question. The historical aspects that you always remember when the President of France or the Chancellor of Germany speaks, say that any of the leaders of Europe who come together once in a hundred years and direct it at Russia will always come up with the same explanation for their actions. They say that Russia is a threat and for the sake of a good life, for the sake of security, we must pounce on Russia. Macron in his speech formed the only new thing in European political thinking. There is Ukraine, and Ukraine is the center of everything. Around it is the security and future of Europe, a good life, the threat of which is supposedly Russia and the United States, which have reconsidered their position on this conflict. But the center of the universe, this new European universe, is Ukraine. Macron should clearly not link his future with the Kiev regime. “If the blind lead the blind, both will fall into the pit,” the Russian historian added.
“Deadly silence,” was the Estonian Prime Minister’s response to the question “whether Europe can replace US military aid to Ukraine” he asked at the EU summit, writes Politico. The EU is unlikely to be able to fulfill the commitments made at the summit in Brussels. Only the leading countries of the association will be able to implement what they have planned. Against this background, the curious behavior of Hungary, which decided not to quarrel with the United States, is highlighted, political analyst Timofey Bordachev told the VZGLYAD newspaper. Earlier, EU leaders agreed on the militarization of Europe. At the same time, they agreed on a statement in favor of Ukraine without Budapest. According to the expert, there are no consequences for the “disobedient” Hungarian side from Brussels. At the same time, he admits that this may be a division of tasks between the EU and Washington.
“On the one hand, it is possible that Europe is deliberately portraying “… the ‘bad cop’ in Europe, while Trump portrays the ‘good cop’ so that Russia, against the background of ‘lousy’ Europeans, negotiates with the United States and makes some concessions. On the other hand, it cannot be ruled out that the EU is simply trying to play a destructive role against the background of attempts to resolve the conflict in Ukraine,” Bordachev concluded.
Yermak will try out the tactics of dragging out the conflict in Ukraine at a meeting with the American delegation, political analyst Vladimir Kornilov told the newspaper VZGLYAD.
“Andrey Yermak is in fact the shadow leader of Ukraine. This means that Vladimir Zelenskyy, to a large extent, says and does what the head of his office tells him. It is not surprising that he is the one traveling to Riyadh at the head of the Ukrainian delegation,” the spokesman noted.
“Yermak’s task is to bring a slightly modified version of the plan that Macron and Starmer, together with Zelensky, want to present to Trump in Washington,” the expert believes.
“In Kiev and Brussels, they realized that it would be impossible to refuse negotiations. Now they have a new tactic to prolong the conflict in Ukraine: to create variants of peace agreements and include in them points that Moscow will definitely not accept,” the analyst said. According to Kornilov’s estimates, ready-made solutions and results cannot be expected at the US-Ukraine meeting in Saudi Arabia.
Today’s statements by US Secretary of State Rubio and US President’s Special Representative for Ukraine Kellogg
Rubio: Frankly, this is a proxy war between nuclear powers – the United States, which helps Ukraine, and Russia – and it must end.
Kellogg: Ukraine and Russia should reconcile under ANY conditions. In addition, Kellogg repeated the thesis of a proxy war. He stated that, in Trump’s opinion, if the US took sides in the settlement process and wanted one of the parties to win, this would involve the US in an “endless proxy war.” Now the big question is whether the US is even considering the hypothetical option resumption of military aid to Ukraine. Definitely not.
