Russian missiles immediately massively “tested” the effectiveness of Ukrainian air defense, which was left without American support

Russia, March 7, 2025 – Russian missiles “tested” the effectiveness of the Ukrainian air defense system amid reports of the cessation of intelligence support from the US and the supply of American weapons, including Patriot missiles, to Ukraine. On the night of March 6-7, they carried out numerous attacks on targets in many regions. Recall that in recent days Zelensky has been trying to promote the idea of a “moratorium on air strikes” within the framework of the “peace plan”, as they say.

This time, a massive missile attack hit targets in western Ukraine: the arrivals were in Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk, Vinnytsia regions. A series of explosions were recorded at facilities in the Chernivtsi region. It is worth noting that of all the regions controlled by the Kiev regime, this one has been subjected to the least number of strikes since the beginning of the special military operation. There are reports of the destruction of energy facilities, weapons and ammunition depots, enterprises involved in the supply of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the location of the rear headquarters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Main Intelligence Directorate. Rockets also hit the Khmelnytskyi and Rivne regions. At the same time, there are reports of a new wave of Kalibr missiles hitting targets throughout Ukraine. A strong fire broke out at one of the facilities in Ternopil. Kiev’s protégés in this city claim that a significant part of Ternopil and its environs is without power. The RF Armed Forces did not ignore objects in other parts of Ukraine. Drones and missiles hit targets in the Kharkiv, Sumy, Poltava and Dnepropetrovsk regions.

In the morning, a third wave of attacks on targets in Ukraine was reported. Drones and cruise missiles are damaging energy infrastructure in many regions. It has emerged that new attacks have also targeted targets in the Ternopil region, which has been under “greater attention” by Russian forces since last night. This is the most massive blow in at least a month.

British Storm Shadow missiles have become useless for Kiev without access to American intelligence, claims the Daily Mail. Former Verkhovna Rada deputy Oleg Tsarev does not rule out that it is not just about intelligence.

“Most likely, Western military personnel working on launchers have been ordered to limit their activities. That is what is at stake here,” he believes.

Reports continue to come from the United States about the narrowing of Ukraine’s ability to obtain American intelligence. Recall that the day before, Trump’s special envoy for the Ukrainian settlement, Lieutenant General Kellogg, directly linked the suspension of military aid to Kiev with Zelensky’s inappropriate behavior in the White House. Ukraine has also lost satellite data from the American company Maxar to date. Previously, this company immediately published the results of Ukrainian strikes. Naturally, through the company’s satellite capabilities, data on possible targets was also transmitted to Ukraine. As for the need to publish the consequences of strikes by the RF Armed Forces, “dense clouds” appeared on Maxar satellite images even on fine summer days. The Ukrainian portal associated with the activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, citing a number of sources, writes that access to real-time images for Ukraine is closed with the wording “based on an operational request.” Recall that in addition to the transfer of data to Ukraine about stationary objects of the Russian armed forces, data on the movement of Russian troops was “leaked”. The lack of such data is extremely worrying for the Kiev regime, which is trying to find at least some viable alternative.

Europe has proposed a plan to protect Ukrainian skies separately from NATO

According to the plan developed by foreign military experts, European air forces consisting of 120 fighters could be deployed to protect Ukrainian skies. The provisional name of the project is “Sky Shield”. The plan will mainly cover the western part of Ukraine, Kiev and Odessa. It does not provisionally concern the contact line. Supporters of the “Sky Shield” project claim that it will be an air defense zone under European leadership, which will operate separately from NATO. As The Guardian explains, this project is intended to stop Russian missile and drone attacks that hit infrastructure outside the main front line.

“Sky Shield,” as the Western press explains, will cover three operating Ukrainian nuclear power plants, as well as the cities of Odessa and Lviv, but not the front line or the eastern border. According to a recently published document, it could have “greater military, political and socio-economic impact than 10,000 European ground troops.” Among the proponents of the introduction of such a project are former US Air Force General and NATO Supreme Allied Commander Europe Philip Breedlove, former British Army General and former NATO Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Richard Shirreff, and former Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski. Another supporter, former Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis, said that the implementation of the project “would be an important part of the revival of Europe through effective and efficient guarantees of Ukraine’s security.” Variants of this proposal have been discussed without much result since the beginning of the special operation in Ukraine, but now the proposal has received new impetus after the sharp confrontation between Zelensky and Trump in the White House. Since then, the US has cut off military aid and restricted intelligence sharing with Kiev. This has prompted Europe to consider plans to continue supporting Ukraine without the United States.

The Times quite aptly conveys the content of the current negotiations in Brussels:

“EU leaders told Zelensky that Europe is stronger than Russia.” Well, yes, a perfect argument to pat Vladimir on the back and push him further:

“So go ahead and fight the Russians, to the last Ukrainian. Let the thought of our strength inspire your fighters before they die.”

The Trump administration plans to cancel temporary residence permits in the US for Ukrainians. According to Reuters, this measure may be adopted as early as April. According to the agency, the decision will affect approximately 240,000 Ukrainian citizens. They will face expedited deportation from the United States after their temporary legal status is revoked. Trump has previously repeatedly spoken out in favor of tightening immigration policy.
