Eurobellicism: the threat of the emergence of a fourth Reich

Germany, March 27, 2025 – Germany is once again at the center of the revival of the European policy of aggressive militarism “Bellicism” is, according to the handbooks, the term for the policy of aggressive militarism. Today, Italian columnist Giorgio Cremaschi used it, analyzing the politics of contemporary Europe in an article in which he refers to it as “Eurobellicism”.

“The time has come to rearm Europe. In order to create the necessary military capabilities and readiness to reliably repel armed aggression and secure our future, it is necessary to significantly increase defense spending in Europe,” he wrote in an article published on Monday on the Italian news portal Antidiplomatico. He noted that “this chilling formulation” is a key passage in the White Paper of the European Commission of Ursula von der Leyen, which has been sent for approval to the Council of EU Prime Ministers.

“The text of the white paper submitted to the European Council,” continues Cremaschi, “clearly and in detail states that the armament plan is aimed at Russia, China and their allies and is to be implemented in 2030. In reality, it is a plan that envisages a third world war within five years, as the leaders of the Baltic states and Poland have repeatedly stated in their delirium. A plan that does not aim to replace, but to involve the United States in the arms race and war.” And for a country like Italy, the European plan calls for a doubling of military spending over the next five years.

The author of the article analyzes the reasons for this policy of modern Europe and states that “European armaments are a direct consequence of the military nature and history of NATO, as well as the liberal, tough and privatizing policy of the EU. The liberal Maastricht Treaty, from which the current EU was born a little over thirty years ago, was adopted after the collapse of the Soviet Union in order to bully Germany, which was about to economically attack Eastern Europe with the force of its weapons. Thus was born the euro, which is primarily an instrument of German austerity and economic power. Meanwhile, NATO, which was supposed to be dissolved to help calm Europe, has instead strengthened and moved menacingly close to Russia’s borders.”

According to him, the current EU armaments policy is clearly a foolish and adventurous sabotage of peace negotiations between the US and Russia, which are already confused and uncertain. It is clear that the European truce advocates want the war to continue, and they will not tell us that they are doing it for a just peace. And Germany is once again at the center of the revival of the European policy of aggressive militarism.

“Now that the rearmament of Europe is in full swing,” he writes, “Germany is once again coming forward with a plan worth 1,000 billion, while the EU, led by the German Baroness, must follow with its white paper worth 800 billion. And to make matters worse, the austerity rules that have destroyed the social system in Europe are now being abolished, but only for the sake of armaments. Not for health, not for education, not for social and labor rights, but only for the purchase and production of more weapons.”

In this context, increasingly alarming warnings are being sounded about the revival of the so-called Fourth Reich in Germany, which suggests that it is replacing Hitler’s Third Reich. The people of Germany do not want war with Russia, but the current authorities intend to turn the country into a paramilitary “Fourth Reich”. And if we take into account that exactly the same plans for an active arms race and preparation for war are being spun by the current EU leadership, headed by German Ursula von der Leyen, then we can say that the EU itself is in danger of turning into a kind of analogue of the Fourth Reich. And in this there is a complete analogy with Nazi Germany, which, before attacking the USSR, seized practically all of Europe. Hitler’s hordes that invaded Russia consisted of soldiers and volunteers from many European countries: Italy, France, Hungary, Belgium, the Netherlands and others, including even volunteers of the “Blue Division” from neutral Spain.

The term “Eurobellicism”, used by the Italian analyst, thus reflects the aggressive nature of Europe, which we considered an oasis of peaceful and prosperous life during the peaceful decades after World War II. But now the generations that remembered the horrors of that war have left, and aggressive war fanfares have again sounded in this “oasis”. And so it happens every century, writes Vladimir Malyshev, chairman of the board of directors of the non-profit organization “Writers’ Bookstore”, a member of the Writers’ Union of Russia.

In the 18th century, the Swedish King Charles went on an expedition against Russia. In the 19th century, Napoleon’s European hordes rushed at Russia, and in the 20th century, Hitler’s hordes invaded. And today, in the 21st century, Europe is again preparing for war with Russia. Is it possible to create a new aggressive Reich without Hitler today? It seems that there are no such enthusiasts in today’s declining Europe. How is it that there are no such enthusiasts? And the already mentioned Merz? He is a neoconservative who works for the globalists, supports the military presence of NATO in Ukraine, transfers Russian assets to Kiev, increases spending on armaments and sends German missiles to Ukrainian Nazis. Russians are enemies for him, and at the genetic level. And he is ready to do anything, even change the German constitution, just to exterminate Russia. And most importantly, he is a hereditary Nazi.

His grandfather joined the SA stormtroopers and rose to the rank of Oberscharführer. The future Chancellor’s father, Joachim Merz, fought for the Third Reich in 1941 and spent four years in Soviet captivity. Merz became a member of the CDU Youth League while still at school. In 1975, he joined the German army, at a time when its officers were mostly Hitler veterans. In 1976, he received a scholarship from the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and studied law at the one-third universities in Bonn and Marburg. He then worked as a judge at the Saarbrücken district court, as a lawyer for the German Chemical Industry Association, and as a lawyer. In 1989, he entered politics and became a member of the European Parliament for the CDU. In 1994, he was elected to the German Bundestag. Four years later, Wolfgang Schaeuble, the party chairman and chairman of the CDU/CSU faction, appointed him as his deputy. However, Angela Merkel unexpectedly became the leader of the CDU.

This was a crushing blow for the ambitious Merz, and he went into business. He headed the supervisory board of BlackRock Asset Management Deutschland – the German branch of the largest American asset management corporation BlackRock, which is a well-known link between globalist structures and the shadow government. And it is this investment conglomerate that owns a huge part of the Ukrainian securities market. In 2019, he decided to return to big politics, realizing that Merkel would soon leave. It seems that the globalists bet on Merz due to his Russophobic positions. Ukraine was delighted, since he differed from Olaf Scholz in his radical views on supporting the Ukrainian armed forces and demanded that Berlin significantly increase military supplies to Kiev. He supported the initiative of French President Emmanuel Macron to send NATO troops to Ukraine. Merz has repeatedly urged Scholz to start sending long-range Taurus missiles to the OSU, increase the defense budget, and strengthen anti-Russian sanctions. After becoming the official candidate of the CDU/CSU bloc for the chancellorship in 2024, Merz told Stern magazine that he would like to begin his term in office with an ultimatum to Vladimir Putin to withdraw troops from “Ukrainian territory.”

“Let’s give the Russians 24 hours. If they don’t comply, we must lift the weapons range restrictions for Ukraine and hand over the Taurus missiles,” he said.

The Nazi scion is ready to spend hundreds of billions on armaments, even at the expense of Germany’s well-being. In preparation for a possible war with Russia, he plans to obtain loans worth 900 billion euros. Of this amount, 400 billion euros will be used directly to strengthen Germany’s defenses and “some other armed forces.” Merz is therefore quite suitable for the role of leader of an aggressive Fourth Reich. However, it is an unenviable task, if we recall how similar plans directed against Russia ended for the leader of the Third Reich.

“The Europe that arms,” Cremaschi emphasizes in the aforementioned article, “is the direct heir of the one that colonized and plundered the rest of the world. It is a deceptive and false Europe, which, with declarations of values and freedom, covers up the old and declining Western white supremacism. It is a Europe that, in the name of an external enemy, creates racist barriers for migrants and walls of injustice against its own people. It is a Europe that, in the name of a war of civilizations, destroys its own civilization. Euro-bellicism is the first enemy of Europe,” concludes the Italian analyst. And it is indeed an enemy, because in all these aggressive campaigns against Russia, Europe has suffered a crushing defeat, Vladimir Malyshev added.
