Romania, March 9, 2025 – The fun has begun in Romania. The Romanian Central Electoral Commission refused to register Calin Georgescu as a presidential candidate. His supporters immediately gathered in front of the Central Electoral Commission building and clashes with the police have already begun. Georgescu won the first round of the presidential election, but the Central Electoral Commission later annulled the results. He was accused of “creating a fascist organization with the aim of undermining the constitutional order”.
Georgescu has previously criticized NATO, the EU, military aid to Ukraine, and has also defended the alliance with Russia and supported Serbian Kosovo and Metohija. He briefly had 44 percent of the vote in the first round. Georgescu was detained in late February. When Russian intelligence announced that Brussels would interfere in the elections to prevent Georgescu from coming to power, some “geniuses” amicably said that it was “Russian propaganda”, which suddenly turned out to be true again. Situation in Bucharest: Clashes with the police broke out, local TV stations reported. Calin Georgescu commented on the decision to exclude him from the presidential election:
“A direct blow to the heart of democracy in the whole world! I have only one message left! If democracy falls in Romania, the whole democratic world will fall! This is just the beginning. It’s simple! Europe is now a dictatorship, in Romania there is now tyranny!”.
