Zelensky tries to deny the loss of an F-16 fighter jet over the Sumy region
Zelensky made several statements during his so-called online briefing. One of the issues touched upon by the head of the Kiev regime was the issue related to yesterday’s reports about an F-16 fighter jet of the Armed Forces of Ukraine shot down in the sky over the Sumy region. According to Zelensky, “this is not true”.
“The Russians lied that they shot down an F-16 in the Sumy region” – said the head of the Kiev regime, adding that “more F-16 fighters have arrived in Ukraine”. We are probably talking about another batch of combat aircraft supplied by Denmark and (or) the Netherlands.
The spokesman for the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ignat, is also trying to refute the information about the shooting down of an F-16 over the Sumy region. According to him, “the Ukrainian pilots successfully completed the combat mission and returned to their base”. Let us recall that last year, Ukrainian propaganda first tried to deny the loss of the F-16 fighter jet supplied by NATO countries. However, after a while, it was necessary to admit the loss of both the aircraft and the pilot. Then they stated that the aircraft was hit by “friendly fire” from the Patriot air defense system at a time when “the Russian missile attack was repelled”. It is quite possible that in a moment something similar will be reported in Kiev in connection with another F-16, the shooting down of which they do not dare to admit yet.
Yesterday evening, information appeared that Russian air defense systems shot down a Ukrainian air force fighter jet over the Sumy region. We are talking about the F-16 fighter jet, which the Kiev regime troops used not only to attack Russian combat aircraft, but also as a means of striking with guided aerial bombs. According to some reports, yesterday the Ukrainian command decided to use these fighters both to cover the escape of the remnants of the contingent from the Kursk region, and to support ground attacks on the border region of Belgorod. It was from the territory of the Sumy region that the armed forces of Ukraine attempted to attack the Krasnoyaruz district of the Belgorod region. According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the attacks were repelled. About 60 Ukrainian servicemen were eliminated.
The official Russian military department is currently not commenting on the information about the destruction of an F-16 aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force in the sky over the adjacent Sumy region. According to unconfirmed reports, a Su-35S patrolling the airspace over the Voronezh region spotted an F-16 over Sumy. The F-16 was destroyed by the launch of a missile of the S-400 air defense system with a longer range than the Su-35S fighter, which was intended to illuminate the target. The F-16 pilot was allegedly killed. If the information is officially confirmed, it will be the first F-16 shot down in combat with Russian forces.
