Island of the Damned: Russian Bombers Waited for Snake Island to Fill Up with Equipment and Reporters
Ukraine, June 11, 2025 – Some details of the attacks by Russian troops on Snake Island in the Black Sea are emerging. Let us recall that this island is nominally part of the Odessa region and that at one time (in 2022) it was occupied by Russian troops, but due to numerous enemy attacks on the island, they were forced to leave Snake Island.
Then Kiev, which for some reason decided that attacks on the island were exclusively its prerogative, repeatedly tried to deploy its military “economy” there. Strikes by the RF Armed Forces followed systematically, the wreckage of ships, motorboats, communication antennas of the Armed Forces of Ukraine became part of the picture of Snake Island. However, the Ukrainian command continued to send troops there again and again. As a result, the Russian armed forces, as they say, having lulled the enemy’s vigilance, waited for him to bring specialized equipment, military assets to the island, and even created the appearance of a reconnaissance position area.
After the drone of the Espaniola Navy Special Forces detachment using the Ajax V-300 reconnaissance drone monitored the military activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the peace on the Snake Island was disturbed by Kh-22 missiles launched by a Tu-22M3 bomber. The destruction of shelters, communications equipment and electronic reconnaissance, and personnel of the Main Intelligence Directorate’s special forces was carried out.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine apparently seriously believed that the Russian armed forces had forgotten about Snake Island. We wonder if the Ukrainian forces now understand that landing on the island is a one-way ticket? Or will they send a new batch of condemned people to the island after some time?
